Vintage Precision is in California.......I just bought one of their hub pullers, the absolute best purchase I have ever made.....top quality puller and better IMO than the KR Wilson. IT doesn't push directly on the axle end like the KR Wilson.
Mitchell Manufacturing makes one as well. It works well, and on both styles of hubs, indented ring or protruding ring.

This looks like the "Mitchell" hub puller.

I've watched these things on eBay for years now, and they just seem so "dinky". I have the "Winfield" puller, and it's a beast! I just can't imagine this Mitchell unit getting down and dirty with a hub that is TIGHT on the axle as they are SUPPOSED to be! The Winfields can still be found used on eBay and in the "Swap Meet" occasionally. DD
Re-read my post....."It doesn't "directly" push on the end of the axle." It has a female threaded winged cap that threads on to the axle and the bolt pushes on the cap, not the end of the axle so NO chance what so ever of any mushrooming of the axle.....NONE!!!!! IF you look at the second photo on Petehoovie's post you will see the winged/tabbed piece I speak of in the second photo of his post its the last item on bottom half of the clam shell half!!!! You thread that on the axle, thread the push bolt all the way out flush with the threaded insert, slide the one half with the push bolt and thread insert over the winged cap on the axle into the slots for it, then slide the other half on to first half, then slide the cover over it all to hold it in place!!!!! Just a NOTE here, I spoke with the make of it when I ordered it and he told me DO NOT use more that 125ft/Lb's of torque!!!!!!My question is how can that puller work if it doesn't push on the end of the axle? My real KRW puller has a nut that screws onto the end of the axle to push against. Is that what was being talked about?
