Winfield model V carb

Looking to see if anyone can share insight on the Winfield model 4V updraft carbs - this has a 1" bore. There is a model 5V that has a 1.25" bore as well

My inquiry revolves around the carbs size - most if the fellas I hang sbout with are Flathead V8 guys ( I have one as well ) or Model A banger guys - they are against the 1" bore size and claim it is too small .

Based on years with British sport cars - I favored a bit smaller carb for responsiveness - and think the Model 4V would be good - though I am intetested in T guys experiences.

I plan to use on a T speedster for road use with a moderately hopped up T engine
6.5/1 flathead cyl head with mild porting
Headers
Cam
And lightened flywheel - nothing far out, just enough to wake her up so she can move out nicely.

Thxs

John,

there is a ton of info on the jalopy journal hamb board on ther winfirld carbs.
the joy of a winfield and what made them famous is the external adjustments for all aspects of the carb...

I looked over there - more on the S and SR models - I wanted to go early do got hold if the V model Winfield - trying to get info on these earlier carbs is a bit more elusive !
I got your PM - let me think it over and I will get back to you

It will be fine on your T, I have run one and it ran great was plenty of carb. Remember
its a barrel valve carb so no butterfly or shaft taking up space in that 1" hole.
Keep the barrel clean as it may stick if it gets a build up of junk in it.
I think the Secrets of Speed guys had info on these if I remember correctly. I'll check
some old magazines and see if I can find something.
