Winfield model M carb help needed

A good friend of mine recently aquired this carb. I understand it is for the Model A and B fords. Is this correct? What can you tell me about it? Thanks, Kent

Model S, and later SR, Winfields were built in the Model A days. The M predated the S, and were more of the T era. I know little about the M, but S's and SR's came in several sizes, for different cubic inch engines, also in updraft of downdraft configurations.

I have a Winfield in good working order. The only problem with this carb is that the choke linkage must be modified in order to make it suitable for use on a Model A Ford. The typical solid choke rod on a Model A must be replaced with a flexible one similar to those used on later cars.
The mixture is regulated by adjusting a brass screw jet on the back below the mounting flange.
The spherical air intake makes quite a different sound compared to a Zenith or other make of carb.
For a picture of a Model M see Model A Times, Fall 2011, page 20.
