windshield restoration project

Calling all expert Restorers!! I'm on my second windshield frame. The first one lasted maybe 2 yrs. I had it chromed after I filled the holes. (mig welder) It rusted out from the inside out! Now I picked up another frame ,not bad but after sand blasting a few holes showed up. The metal is thin, so brazing #2 rod was suggested. Also chemical rust remover (vinegar, metal prep or evapo-rust) to soak inside the folds of the frame. Once the rust is gone, holes patched , would a dip in por15, primer, or something else? stop the inside rust?? I plan on painting it gloss black for the finish. Any commits, thought's, or Ideas are appreciated. Thanks Dave.

Actually, to be "Correct", the W/S frame should be painted body color on 35-36 PU. (Except 36 Deluxe), but I do not see how your plans could do any damage.

POR 15 is a great product for doing what you are planning to do. Durable is an understatement and it is thin enough to flow nicely into nooks and crannies. If you haven't used it before, you need to clean it up off of surfaces you do not want it on quickly, because after it hardens it is the Dickens to get off.
