Windshield repair question

Hi friends, I posted this in the Ranger forum but didn't get a lot of traction, so I'm going to ask here.

My '11 Ranger has a small chip near the bottom of the windshield. There are cracks emanating from the chip that go below the weather stripping.

I am assuming this means I need new glass as it's likely the crack goes all the way to the bottom edge. A friend who works in glass (not automotive) says the epoxy repairs aren't always that effective anyway.

My question is, if I get a replacement windshield I want it to look just like the factory one. The Rangers of that era as well as many other Fords had the model name baked into the "frit" (black dots) at the top center of the windshield. So if I get a new one I don't want a generic replacement, I want it to have the Ranger logo.

Does anyone know if they still make exact factory replacements, and if so what I have to ask the repair company for to make sure I'm getting what I want? And if anyone has any input on glass repair generally I'm all ears. I don't know a lot about it. Thanks!

Why not check with safelite? They just put EOM glass on my 2012 F150….
Not model a so don’t expect much traction here either

Hello you may try a “auto recycle “aka junk yard for a original Ford windshield, most of the after market glass isn’t like the original, one thing to look for if buying a used car ,if glass has been replaced may have been in collision.

For something like that I would begin calling some Ford dealers near you. '11 isn't old but its old enough where finding a specific new windshield like that may be a challenge.

I had an 88 Subaru justy that was hard to find parts for. I was able to dig around and found the "oldest" Subaru dealer in the states they were several states away from me. They actually had some those original justy parts on the shelf. They were happy to get them gone in that case. They helped me quite a few times before I sold the car.

I just had the same issue with my off topic 63 Chevy. It’s really hard to find oem or nos glass now a days and if you do it’s so old at this point you will probably have some delamination. Good luck!
