windshield glass

finally working on the body, taking it apart to get media blasted. should I reuse original(?) windshield or get a modern replacement? also how do I get the glass out of the frame? should be easy enough but I'm a little stumped.

If you dont have the tempered glass, replace it. The windshield frame comes apart at the bottom and the frame slides apart and you then can remove the windshield.

Actually, by law, I believe, you have to have laminated safety glass, not tempered used for the windshield. Tempered glass can be used for the side and rear windows. I believe that most model A windshields have a removable top piece. You didn't say what kind of car you have, but I think all windshields I have seen (open and closed cars) have a removable top piece. There should be some small screws on the sides and on the front (closed car) that need to be removed. The top should slide up and off. Sometimes the retaining brackets are rusted and soaking the frame in penetrating oil will help.

I believe that you have given the correct info. As it was not stated what type A , the cost for say roadster , I believe , will be more expensive that other rectangular shapes.

mine is a 30 ccpu
thanks I'll attack it later
finally running after 28 years in the garage and a couple years to get to this point, very exciting!!
