Windshield closing

Windshield does not close all the way and makes contact with the gas cap when open.
Any suggestions for a fix?

It is likely, when the glass was installed in the frame, that the lower curved section of the frame was either bent and/or the glass was not pushed far enough into the lower channel. That results in too great a dimension vertically in the center of the windshield.

I have seen some header wood that wasn't made quite correct that causes that problem ---the metal over the header couldn't seat up high enough --it needed 1/4" removed in some places.

When I replaced the header in my '31 Tudor a few years ago, after putting everything back together the bottom of the windshield dragged heavily on the gas cap. I finally put some serious effort into tightening the hinge screws and that fixed that problem. They probably turned in just about 1/16 of a turn each, but that was enough to fixt it.
It still doesn't close like I'd like it to, but that can be another project sometime.

If you have the thick rubber seal between the hinge and header, you might remove it and use some calk instead. I've done that with success.
