Windshield brackets 1914 brass???

The brackets that hold the windshield at the top of the firewall for a 1914, were the originals solid brass or brass plated ? I just bought a set off ebay and and are steel with a brass colored plating that is flaking off ??? Thanks

Karasmer: I have a mostly original "survivor" 14 Touring, and if I can remember to do so, I will check mine tomorrow, and let you know. I do open them occasionaly, to remove the windshield rail so I can polish the brass strip around the firewall.

Ive had two CDN 14 T,s & both of them were plain painted steel.I think some of the early 13s had the brass brackets.
