window regulator

I am rebuilding a 1930 model A coupe and am experiencing some difficulties
finding an original window regulator. I ordered two from Mac's some time
ago. When trying to install them recently I find the regulator hits the window
channel. I have filed, trimmed and bent. It still hits though not as bad. It
will go by with some persuasion. Have you guys had this problem? I have a
good original regulator, but the small spring is broken in the gears at the
handle. This is a three hole small housing and I don't find a spring for this in
my catalogs.. I need some advice on where to get a spring or where I can
get an original style regulator. Thanks for any help

I had a similar problem with the original regulators. Turns out that the channels were spread a little too wide to install new glass.

Bert's in Denver will have what you need. I gave my repros away to a fella who thought he could make them work. He gave up too and went to originals.

Thanks Ray, I'll try Berts. I had my problems with the cheap window aluminum
window channels too. Threw them away. Got channels for a four dr and after
altering them a bit they work great. It sure is nice to have a place to go for
answers. Thanks guys.

I replaced all four regulator on our 1928 Tudor with replacements from George Moire. No problem they just fell into place. Now I can actually roll the windows up and down.

I have disassembled several regulators and found that there are different brake designs which require slightly different spring shapes. Perhaps that is why no one makes a good replacement.

Rex, you may be right, but it would be nice if someone would make a pkg of
3 or 4 types that you could purchase, then use the one needed.
