window regulator springs

I have in front of me a 1936 regulator and a 1941-48 regulator. Yes, the later one has one spring and the earlier has two springs. That is not the point however. The one spring in the later regulator is thicker which presumably makes it stronger. However the spring certainly looks interchangable as to size with the earlier ones. The catalog of the maker of replacement springs indicate they fit 1928 thru 1948. Yes, they probably interchange but they were not originally of the same thickness. Obviously a thinner spring may not last as long in a regulator where Henry originally used a heftier spring.

I believe the 2 springs being equal thickness, makes the window stay in place where the crank leaves it. The new springs listed it catalogs are made overseas, and we all know about the quality of products we get now.
