Window felts 39 truck

Need some help with the felt strips that go in the door window opening. I got the vintiques truck kit and have most of if fitted but I can’t get the strips to fit in the door where the window comes out of. There is a 2 piece strip on the inside with one part either side of thd grab handle and on stop on the outer side. These strips are too thick and just with the outer installed the window frame drags on the door opening. If I fit the inner strips the window can’t come up at all. The original metal backer was 1/3 the thickness of these repop parts. How do you guys get them to fit? Do I hammer the strips flat like the originals?

Is the window frame metal? If so see if you can mash the fuzzy strip a bit. Do the inside first. The mashed fuzzy will not show so much. Worst case go to upholstry shop and buy a strip of the narrow material. You’ll have to glue it in. Mash the fuzzy with pieces of metal in a vise
