Window Felt Channel Installation

Hi Everyone,

I bought a set of door and rear window channels kits for a 1931 Tudor from Bratton's (PN 31770 & 31820). In both kits is a small roll of rubber labeled " 'T' Rubber Window Glass Anti-Rattler for Inside Window Mouldings" and is made by Vintique Inc P/N A-45986. Not sure were this goes? It is the same length as the felts. I tried looking it up but no luck. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Jim

That is probably rubber for what was called upper door seals..A metal piece that mounted underneath the garnish molding and sealed against the glass. Held in place by the four screws that mount the garnish moulding.

There is a small metal "plate" that sits under the door garnish molding that I believe the rubber T molding slides into. So this piece sits horizontal to the window, on the inside of the window it runs the width of the window. My guess is that it is in place to help protect the window when the door is closed. Brattons has the piece part number #31380 it is called a window anti rattle.

i believe these are for the top of the windows. the glass anti rattle strips for under the garnish comes already mounted in metal..

while i went out and took a picture ,others posted ,but here is a photo of the assembly
tom

there is a thin metal strip that fits under the lower window trim
the rubber is slid into the channel of the strip
the first photo shows it in place, the second is the over all piece and the 3rd is where the rubber fits
this assembly keeps the window from rattling and also helps with drafts
this is an original piece
i dont know what the reproductions look like

Thanks everyone, this helped, especially the pic's!!
Is there anything on the other side of this to seal the outside of the door to the glass? Seems like a pretty big gap, but I don't see anyplace to mount anything.

Thanks again,
Jim

There was nothing to fill the gap on the outside. There were drain holes in the bottom of the door for any rain water that entered. Unfortunately some folks carelessly allowed debris to get into the door which retained the water causing the doors to rust from the inside.

The piece in question is actually a "door belt weatherstrip and retainer assembly" but listed under "strip". That weatherstrip blocked the outside air that circulated into the door from entering the cabin.
