Gentlemen;is there an "easiest" way to replace windlace on the cowel posts of the '29 Tudor? Most of the rivets seem to be blindsided to the
body?

the wind lace go`s on the door not the cowl post front only, it go`s on the body on top and the back door post

BUDDY P...

On a 28-29 Tudor, as with the 28-29 Coupe's, the "rivets" must be removed from the right and left front piller Assembly "door" posts.

The windlace, I think, for which is to be installed, "should" have a piece of thin cardboard sewed into the windlace itself so it can fit within the channel of the two pieces removed from the piller assembly posts. Then re-riveted to the piller assembly as was taken off.

It is the only way and the easiest. Of coarse you will have to remove a few things first to get to the tube-end of each rivet.

JW HASH...I believe you are referring to the 30-31 doors???...not sure on that one? There is no windlace on the 28-29 Tudor and Coupe doors.

Buddy,
I believe the original rivets were semi-tubular. When you remove the side windshield garnish and the side cowl hardboard panels (and maybe the dash panel), the tubular side of the rivets will be exposed. All you need to do is carefully drill out the rolled over part of the rivets with a drill bit that is slightly larger than the rivet hole. It worked will for me. To install the windlace, it is probably best to use some type of adhesive to attach the windlace to the door post flange before riveting the metal strip in place using a semi-tubular rivet set.

Thanks gentlemen.I'll have to look more closely.I can see remnants of the old trim but couldn't see the backs of the rivets.
I appreciate the help.

I think they supply split rivets in the windlace kits.

Originals were tubular but splits are easier to install.
