When I pull the little lever out to turn it on it goes all the way over to the driver 's side but will not return until I push the lever back in. What's up with that?

The trip switch isn't working. Maybe it needs lubrication, or a slight adjustment. I'd remove the cover and have a look at the mechanism. I don't have any pictures to help.

Minerva's wiper did the same. With engine OFF, I moved the blade back & forth & could hear the trip thingy go, "CLICK-CLICK"---I THEN WARMED THE MOTOR WITH A HAIR DRYER & IT WORKED PERFECT! Sucked in some 3 In 1 oil & it worked perfect, even when cold. Apparently, the flapper grease was too GUMMY.

I disconnected the vacuum hose, used a short piece of hose I had, a few drops of 3-n-1 oil, blew it in, moved the wiper back and forth. Hooked back up to vacuum line, fired up the car, turned on the switch and works great.
