Wind Shield Wiper Problem

Have a 29 Briggs that has been converted to 12 volt. The wind shield wiper is an original 6 volt. It works fine when connected to 6 volt battery. However when hooked to a voltage reducer it will not operate. Ground is good and lead from the voltage reducer is good. What am I missing?

Is the voltage drop rated for the amount of amps the wiper motor is requiring?

Which 'original wiper' motor do you have Tom? My feeling is some of those are rare enough that I think it would be in your best interest to remove it and substitute for something aftermarket while on the 12 volts.
