Will your A Start today

If you are big on hand cranking, and not using the starter motor....you can cut a piece of 1/2 copper water line. Take an angle grinder and cut a grove down it lengthwise. Then trim it to the final length you want the position to be (like almost closed ~3/4) Once it's done as you like, pull the rod back, and slip the copper tube over the rod in the cab, and go out and crank it.

You can store it in your door pocket, or your workbench.

Excellent idea! I'm going to do this but use 1/2" PVC pipe to avoid scratches.

It was 32 degrees early this am when I started my Slant T/S. Opened the GAV 1/2 on my Marvel carb pulled the choke and hit the starter, it fired right up. 10W-30 oil.

If anyone starts a car in such cold weather, tape a piece of cardboard to the front of the radiator so that the engine warms up quickly. Watch the temperature because it may overheat.

The North Pole has moved south this week. I have a nice fire going as the heat pump has no heat to pump into the house.

We heat primarily with wood (red oak, white ash and black walnut) with Dino farts (natural gas) as a backup. It's going to be -18 F with a -35 F wind chill by sunrise tomorrow morning. Doesn't bother me one bit, good ice making weather.

When I started the Wretched Roadster in 17 degree weather no tape was needed to hold a piece of cardboard to the front of the radiator. The fan sucked it and held it tight.

expecting morning temps in the low teens tomorrow morning [T/Wed], blizzard like snow conditions... up to 6" snow... i have a remote temp sender out by wall where main water enters house wall. read main screen in kitchen. well insulated outside, i still want to 'read the gauges'! 29 last nite, only got to 35.7F at wall. i am ready for 13F or lower with 220-v/fan heater out in shop and aux fan to blow the warm aux air into the closet where PEX enters house. single line now after 2021 ice storms. will heat wall and up and above... last freeze used this DIY set up and maintained 48F/52F while outside 13F and entire neighborhood locked solid in ice! many frozen pipe. us, too... but nothing inside broke. on/off main valve in off position as precaution. stayed that way for 4/5 days! we did manage water from across street... a pipe there did not freeze. Neighbor said use all you need. 2 gallons at a time! fire in fireplace 24/7! morning coffee... among other uses, important! lol

worst case scenario... i am prepared to get up every 30 mins and run all faucets in house to ensure no ice plugs!! The Mission: no frozen pipes! ie, broken

yes, i do believe the North Pole has/will slide deep into the south. Galveston at least and on down to the Brownsville area borders, also. CBS Sunday Morning show had bit on climate. synopsis: all this will continue to worsen! Mother Nature has had it! The winter articc storm weather advisories here are specific! "Conditions Dangerous/Stay Home!!"

Why do you guys live in a place that gets that cold?
why do you live in the hot desert?
lol

haha! i remember coming back from 4 years living in England as a youth. We landed close to NJ. Family is from NJ. and it was winter. I can remember those brutally cold walks outside... in fact i can still feel the chill! brr....

summers here can be worse than the hot deserts... :(

yes, but at the end of the day- we have a Wawa on every corner! :)

had to look it up! seems more than just a corner store but a legendary cultural event...

down here we have a food truck on almost every corner! cuisines: most specialize in TexMex! no thanks! no food trucks for me. i would eat dog food first! ~

A really cold winter's day here tops out at about 10°C (50F) and nights around zero (32F). That's cold by our standards but what you guys tolerate is off the scale here. Summer, high 20s C (80ish F) at night and low 40s C (110ish F) during the day is a max I don't want to see very often.
While I can't imagine living in such cold conditions, I say it is easier to get warm on a cold day that to get cool on a hot one.

Had my boat docked on the east coast innercoastal waterway for a while. In the spring the cruising boats were heading north and in the fall they were heading south. I saw the same thing when I spent the winter in Tucson, Arizona in my camping trailer. Lots of huge RV's pulled in for the winter and left as soon as it started getting hot there. I should have moved to Hawaii when I had the chance.

The geese here somehow know when to fly south. The ponds here are a stopping point along their route. I love to see them fly over my house in formation, honking like crazy.

High school in winter of 1963 in Big Bear Lake,Ca. I drove my '30 fordor sedan all winter w/no antifreeze so every night I drained the radiator & every morning I filled it from the hot water heater in the house. it never failed to start. I also had to sweep the snow off the seat as there was no roof. It also had a manifold heater with a hose over to my feet. The trials & tribulations of a poor school kid, at least I wasn't riding the bus!
