Why DAYTON SHOCKS ON 39 STD

The name says,"DAYTON MADE IN USA".
are these accessory shocks on my 39 std ?, look to be aftermarket,fit
to original hole exactly, nice job & sturdy too, any ideas as to year they were made avaliable? thnx.

Looks like a Delco Lovejoy-mfd by Delco Products in Dayton, OH under license from Lovejoy (British). Definetely an aftermarket replacement on a Ford.

I heard that Lovejoys were easier to rebuild than the Houdailles.

Definitely Delco-Lovejoy shocks. There were adapters made for them to fit V-8 Fords. I sold a set about a year ago. Easy to rebuild and the kits for them can be found on e-Bay from time to time. I hate to say it , but they were a better shock than the original Houdaille.
