The white walls on our 34 even though they are fairly new, still go yellow and look dirty, tried to clean them but allways after a few weeks the come back to the dirty yellow,
I was thinking of painting them black ,any ideas if this will work or what to use.

Do you have a spare you can test on?..paint a section of the WW then run it on the inside and see how it holds up...... Mark

I have used regular flat black enamel with good success but they make actual tire paint that may bond better. Like flatford8 said, I turned my tires whitewall in so if the paint didnt hold up it would not be very noticeable.

Laurie,

Go to a store that specializes in selling automotive paint to the trade and they should have a "paint" that is designed to use on tyres.

Lawrie you can buy white paint too if you wanted to stay with the ww look. What brand are your tyres? Might be good set to avoid when I buy some soon.

I remove dirt and scuffs from the wide white walls on my '47 with a product called "SuperClean" It is widely available in spray bottles and gallon jugs. At our shop it is the all around solvent choice. It is strong, so use gloves when handling it.

Thanks,I think I will try them the other way round,ww inside.
Danny ,they are firestones,
Your 2nd diff is all done.

That's the only way to do it Lawrie, turn them around . Soap and scrub with warm water is the recommend way to clean them, but if thats not working , turn them around and forget the hassle.

I reversed my yellowy white walls on the rims then painted them flat black. That was about 3 years ago and they've held up pretty well. I used Tremclad paint. I thought it looked funny with the w.w.s on the inside and black walls outside and that's why I painted them.

Here is what I use on my wide whites, over 30 years old and a quick wipe with this keeps them looking new. Go to a big box store, Lowes, Home Depot etc, in the paint section look for a blue can of thinner Jasco V&M NAPHTHA. worked like magic on my tires.

Nevermind. I saw Black Magic purchased Westley's Bleche White and it's now watered down.

I'll have to savour my old bottle of Westley's while I still have it.

I like the yellowed look - good patina.
Place the whitewall on the inside by all means but don't paint them white - they will look terrible.
Don't ask how I know.
