Ford 9" with a 4:56 gear
...as stated above hacking up your coup and putting in a 3.00 ford 8" will make your little flathead very sluggish in traffic and no fun on hills.
Or put in a Columbia rear axle. 4.11 in low gear = 2.9 in high gear.. the 42-48 Columbia axle is the easiest to find.
I know others disagree with its abilities, but I have an 8BA, with a 4 inch crank, 3.54 gears and a Columbia. If I am coming off the interstate to a stop sign and don't get shifted out of Overdrive, I can pull away from a stop sign in 1st, while the Columbia is still engaged. I then disengae it, but that 8BA is strong enough to move it with 3.54s and the Columbia.
Be glad to let you drive it next time you are in Denver!!!
