Which of these gaskets to use?

I got the A-6781-C Oil Pan Gasket Set from Snyder's and it came with two of these thin and long gaskets. One is longer and slightly thinner than the other. 1) Longer, skinny, and; 2) shorter, slightly wider

I see where one goes near the flywheel housing, but both are too long for this spot. Am I suppose to cut to length? The longer, narrow fits right in where the shorter, wider one needs work to get in.

Is there another location where one of these others goes?

The rear pan seal that fits the rear main bearing cap was 13/32 wide on the 28-29 models with the forged rear bearing cap. The 30-31 models with cast rear bearing cap used a rear pan seal that was 3/8 wide . Depending on model and whether an early or late rear main bearing cap is used, you use the one that fits the cap groove width. As for length, the seals all must usually be trimmed for length. Proper length is most important to avoid leaks. The oil pan gasket fits to the block first and the seal fits over the rear cap and rests on top of the pan gasket . Thicknes of the pan gasket as in whether cork or paper is used will have an effect on how long the rear pan seal must be. Many times a bad job fitting this important seal will mimmic a rear main bearing leak.
