Which OD do i have...?

The orange one is the one I have (pic is for reference since mines in the solvent tank). The drawing is listed as a 49-50 Merc from Vanpelts which shows a different rear section as indicated by the lock out mechanism as well as some other subtle differences.
Do I have something different or was this just an artists bad rendition?

I've been wrong before...but from what I can see the red one looks just like mine in my 50 Merc. I'd include a picture of of my 8 yr old daughter painting it a few years ago...If I knew how =/

Mercury cars from 1949 through early 1951 had the transmission with the half bell. From around February of 1951 on, the FoMoCo cars all used the transmission with the narrow 4-bolt pattern.

There were some changes in the lock out mechanism & switch in the 49 thru E51 transmissions but they are all interchangeable.
