Which Model A vendor has the best 21” inner tubes?

I’m currently wanting to mount my new Firestone tires. My current tires and tubes are 50+ years old! I’m looking at Snyder’s tubes are these considered currently the best available? These are Firestone bias ply tires.

Re: Which Model A vendor has the best 21” inner tubes?

On a recent rally, a friend had 14 tube failures in 10 days with those Chinesium things. Seems we are back to the horrible days of 2013 when a decent tube was a fantasy.
On the plus side, I am reliably told that Michelin tubes are fantastic, even if a little "spendy"

i don't know the answer to the op's question.
what i do know is i just bought 6 tubes, one has failed before i could drive the car.
i have 50 something year old tubes in 2 tires and they have never gave any greef.

i think it is a gamble.

My tubes came from Snyder’s, about 2 years ago installed under a set of Firestone tires. I have about 1800 miles on them and they are working fine.

Thanks for the input guys it looks like I'll place my order with Snyder's and hang on to my existing tubes as backups!!!

When Bratton's was selling out I got 5 of their 19" tubes for half price. Supposedly the best you could get. Made without recycled rubber. At present they are stored in a cool dry place.;)

Got my radial tubes from Snyders. Two flats in the first 800 miles. I bought Hartford tubes from Coker I believe. No issues. I threw the remaining tubes in the garbage. My understanding is Hartford tubes are also Chinese made. Just holding them you can tell the difference in Quality.

Make sure there are no stickers inside of your tires, use a bright light and look carefully, remove any stickers, i spent about an hour scraping stickers on 5 new tires. I only have to add air once a year !

The American Classic were good for this. They put small stickers that were very difficult to remove. Even the best tubes will not hold up against them.

LOL, I did the same from Brattons when they sold off their remaining inventory at 50% off. I bought a case of them (in both tire sizes) so that I would have new inner tubes for all of my Model A's. I have used a couple of them and had no problems (even replaced the original rubber valve stems with the era correct metal Schrader ones).

All of the inner tubes that I purchased from the former Brattons were delivered to me new in their original shipping box. On that box was stamped "Made in Vietnam".

I have had good luck with tubes from Lucas Classic Tires in Long Beach. Made in Vietnam.

Re: Which Model A vendor has the best 21” inner tubes?

I have Hartford tubes from Coker in my radials. No problems since I removed the stickers from inside the tires, which was a couple of years and a couple of thousand miles ago.

Re: Which Model A vendor has the best 21” inner tubes?

Snyder's does state that their tubes are made from 100% butyl rubber nothing recycled.

Re: Which Model A vendor has the best 21” inner tubes?

Hartford tubes from Coker is the way to go. If you’re going for 19s, make sure you do not get the offset stem which is for a tractor.

I'm still in the process of cleaning up the wheels and repainting them and straightening bent spokes But I did go with Snyder tubes I ended up having to damage and destroy 1 of my original tubes cause the valve stem wouldn't unscrew from it So I have 4 riverside 2 tubes And 5 riverside tires Both 50 plus years old and then a fresh set of fire stones and a fresh set of Snyder tubes!!!

Re: Which Model A vendor has the best 21” inner tubes?

I have never heard the term “stickers” related to tires. You have me mighty curious so I would appreciate it if someone could explain for me (I might need to know some day).

Re: Which Model A vendor has the best 21” inner tubes?

The Coker American radial tires have some stickers inside the tires :-( that if not removed can cause issues rubbing on the tubes = leaks . The stickers are hard plastic and very hard to remove, I used a spoon from the kitchen and heat to remove them , started using my finger nails but them suckers dug into my fingers and hurt , they are stuck so good almost like melted into the tire .

Re: Which Model A vendor has the best 21” inner tubes?

So there really are multiple manufacturers of tubes? Most parts have one, maybe two, suppliers that retailers source from…

Re: Which Model A vendor has the best 21” inner tubes?

I noticed on my new firestone tires they have a slightly raised rib inside them every few " it seems to me that if the stickers are gonna bother the inner tubes those ribs would bother them I've not heard of anybody losing inner tubes due to these ribs inside the firestone tires.

On the inside of my firestone tires I have not found any stickers but I did find 2 on the inside diameter of the bead area.
