Which Engine compression tester to get

both will work.
You will most likely need to buy the spark plug adapter from a vendors. Usually the ones that come with tester are to small for a Model A head spark plug hole

While I own several electronic measuring tools, the caveat is that if used infrequently, the battery will be dead when you need it at some point. A person should check the battery powered tools on a regular schedule to insure that the battery isn't deteriorating to the point that it will damage the instrument.

I use the one from Harbor Freight and the spark plug adapter mentioned by Jack Wingard above.

I have 1 from NAPA and Fisher Auto Parts and they both are mechanical and do a good job. As was mentioned above, definitely need the adapter.

I suggest that you opt for an analog compression gauge, and avoid a digital gauge. Tom Endy's article is excellent.

Definitely the analog and compare it with a known one if you have a friend with one.
Where I work we have all checked our gauges with one another, you find a bad one
every once in a while.
