Which Carbs - Dual Carb Setup?

I'm slowly accumulating pieces and parts for the 59A that will go in my '36 Tudor at some time in the future...

I picked up an Edelbrock Super Dual with generator mount for a sweet price.

Is there any real difference between carbs? I know some models will require boring the manifold.

Any particular models easier to tune, parts more readily available, etc? Figure any will work if set up properly (always a big if).

I would like to stay with Stromberg 97s, but they look to be some of the more desirable (read expensive) carbs out there. I already have one, so I'm 1/2 way there.

The overall build will be a mild street stroker. 4.25" stroke, .060" over, L-100 or Isky Max 1 cam (or something comparable), aftermarket heads, headers, etc. Shooting for 150 hp range. Do I even need duals? Just install a second dummy carb and block it off?

I have JWs book, but haven't gotten too deep into it yet. Ole Ron's book is on the way. Just getting some opinions up front.

Ross,
Your tower is on the way !!
Find another 97. I build a lot of 2x2's and 3x2's and given the choice I lean
towards the Stromberg. Shall I say the Stromberg dials in a bit easier. At Hershey
there were some good deals on Strombergs ,if you were lucky....I think the mystique
is wearing off !

With about 271 ci you will need 2 carbs. 97's will work fine. If you put Daytona Parts kits in them you won't ever have to worry about flooding and you can run as much fuel pressure as you want up to 9 lb.
You might have to match the carb base bores to the manifold but usually they are close enough to run on a street engine. Matching the manifold to the block is more important. Some are WAY off.
An L100 cam will work ok but forget the Max1. A stock 53 cam will work as well as it.
