Maybe you should buy you kid(s) a set of tools as a gift and remove your missing tools from their set.

My dad was a fitter-welder before he retired. When my brothers & I got into cars as teenagers, a lot of his tools disappeared.
I still get good use from them, as do my brothers! Father's day presents for the old man involve tools. I think we've nearly replaced them all.
Genes will tell: I'm sure my 9 year old will liberate some of my kit a few years down the track
