wheel wobble

I finally got my 28 on the road and it is a joy to drive. I had a friend follow me home so I could check my speedometer (which is 5 mph fast) and he told me the drivers side back wheel is wobbling. How do I go about checking to see if it is the rim that is bent or axle or just bearings out of adjustment?
Thanks in advance

Jack up that wheel and put something close to the rim that is stationary to use as a guide and slowly turn that wheel. My guess is the rim is bent slightly. Have one on my left rear just like it. By the way hows the pie's at the hartville kitchen been lately? One of my favorite places.

Every time I went to Ohio to visit my cousins, I'd go to the Hartville flea market. It's the best one I've ever been to, and I found a few Model A parts there.:) My cousin also told me about the Hartville pies, but I never had one.

If you do a search on "wheel straightening" you'll find a lot of information.

Take the wheel he observed wobbling and place it on one of the "straight running" front hubs and spin it. If it runs straight on the front, it is the rear axle or hub causing the wobble. It really can't be the rear bearings causing a wobble.

Straightening a wobble on a Model A wheel is not that difficult to do. Check out my website www.durableperformance.net for Wobble Reduction by Spoke shrinking (Do it Youself instructions)

Good Day!
