Wheel pullers, hub knockers

Are these the hub removal tools I read about earlier, "hub knockers", there are 4 different sizes here? So what's the idea here- take off the opposing wheel, leave the wheel on that you are trying to remove the hub for friction, screw on and give it a wrap with a 16 pound sledge?

Yes - you got the gist - pull off the nut, replace with this, and give it a good smack... If you do not tighten this on before digging out the hammer you risk stripping the threads from that hit and I don't really care for them for this reason.

The better use for this is to protect the threads while using a press to remove or replace the gear on the other end - it needs to be tight for this use too...
