Wheel Balancing

I use the balancer from Harbor Freight, it works with our wheels. I use adhesive wrights from NAPA.

My wheels don't bounce, and I haven't tried to balance them yet, but I did make this wheel balancer to do the job.

Interesting about the dynabeads.
1. It looks like every time you stop the car the beads need to rebalance themselves. This probably takes a few seconds at least. Probably not so bad.
2. If you use a bubble balancer or what Tom has shown first, could you reduce the amount of beads and get the job done for less money? Would the result be better?

Thanks,
Vic

You need a spare front hub and some clean lightly oiled bearings.

Clamp the hub to something and put the wheel on with the 5 bolts.

I started by putting the dot on the tire at the valve stem and then broke the bead and rotated the tire till I got the slowest return to the heavy spot. The whole purpose was to get the best static balance for each wheel. I put the 2 best on the front and the worst on the rear. I also plan on getting dynabeads at some point, but the car is not on the road.

Keep in mind the A has a lot of unsprung weight and the wheels are less likely to have a balance issue. So a perfect balance is not as important as close enough.

How can I balance my model A car Wheels.

Thanks

Do you mean how the wheels/tires can be balanced ,or, how you can balance them all by your lonesome?
I've bubble balanced them and spin balanced them. Now I just stick them on the spin balancer.

I used a club member's bubble balancer and it did a good job. I also have a vintage spin balancer that came out of an old Ford dealership but I don't know how it is supposed to work. It is for sale for $350. item # 331267429236. On this one the wheel in the horizontal sits on a turntable attached to a pedestal bolted to the flooring and is spun by a motor that engages the tire, but I don't have any instructions.
