What's my friends 1934 Ford?

One of our club's members just aquired this dickey seat Roadster.
It appears to be a US built Ford, exported to France and later on via Austria to Germany (he's got all the records).

Can someone tell me which bodystyle he's got and decode the numbers?

BTW: She still has her original engine fitted

To start off, your friend has one nice 1934 Ford Cabriolet !
"40" stands for the 1933-34 Model Year.
Moteur would be the Serial Number.
I don't know what the 2421 stands for on the French tag.
760 stands for the Cabriolet Body Style.
It is the 1,212th Cabriolet built. *
MIKE :)

* Corrected to the 12,125th.

It looks to me like a French built Cabriolet (Model 760), the headlights are a dead giveaway. It may have the shocks on the rear axle, rather than on the frame. Body number 1212 ( the 1212 of this body built) The other ID plate tells that it is the 2421 assembled. The other number is the Serial number. The car was assembled in the Asnieres, France plant from mostly American components. The electrical parts were French. I would bet that the paint scheme is not original. The firewall looks black.

I don't have the worldwide production figures handy, but the U.S. domestic figure was 15,100 for 1934, so 12,125 is well within the realm of the likely worldwide total of cabriolets built in 1934. Those Marchal head lamps are gorgeous.

My old eyes failed me. I did not see that "5" ! 12,125 is a valid number.
Sorry,
MIKE :)

One of my 34 cabriolets' has a body number of 13,360 and ser. # in the 812 thousand's. That makes it a April car. The other 34 cabriolet is body number 22,466. I dont know the ser. number. Dad owned the 22,466 car from 1939 to 1947. In 1939 he paid $235.- for it and traded in his 28 A roadster He thought it was a August car then he sold it for $110.- in 1947. Then got the body back in 1972 for $25.-. Anyway I think that the body number goes with the model number at the start of 1933 model 40 cabriolet they made over 25,000 of them for both years. That is why I have a 22,000 body numbered car. On my 33 cabriolet the body number is long gone along with the biggest part of the firewall. Thanks, Larry
