My daughter is getting married in May, (my other daughter got married last May), and I'm thinking of selling my 1934 pickup to pay for it. I see prices all over the place and was wondering if someone could advise me on what a realistic price would be It's a real nice truck, restored, all stock, looks and runs great. any help would be appreciated.

Tell your daughter to elope 'cause there's no way your gonna sell that fine truck to pay for her wedding! Tell her instead, you'll consider selling it to make a down payment on a house.

Gee willikers!
Are you sure your daughter would want you to sell your
prize truck for her wedding? I bet NOT.

Thanks. Most of those thoughts have gone through my head, but, it's hard to so no to the girls. Besides, she'll probably only get married 3 or 4 times. (Just kidding Jackie).

As you well know an item is worth what some is willing to pay for it. Seven years ago I bought a freshly restored, totally stock '34 pickup for more than $30K.
Today, however, as I have watched a lot of trucks for sale over the years, my best guess for a sales price would be $29,500. If the local (midwest) market is slower I imagine you might have to settle for $25k to $26k. Remember, you only need ONE buyer...you don't have to please all the tire kickers. Hemmings is probably the largest market of potential buyers..so advertise it. Fortunately, I have two sons and I kept my trucks!!

Was thinking about the same as 2ndgeer, probably mid-20's if it is as nice as it looks. All steel, no fiberglass fenders. etc.

I'd do as the others say and keep the truck. Maybe float a SMALL loan for the wedding if you have too. it's wrong, that so many weddings gotta cost that sort of coin today. $25K and up. It's out of control. Especially when 50% of marriages end up going south.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to bash weddings, I just wanted to offer a thoughtful alternative that she may agree to if she's a smart girl.

I recently put a non Ford on Ebay for sale with a reserve. In the end the price did not meet the reserve but it gave me an idea of the market and only cost me less than $16 to do so. Good luck.

It certainly is a nice looking PU, but I think you'd be lucky to get $25K for it. I'm thinking more around $20-22K. But does a wedding cost that much? Is there another way you can have the wedding and still keep the PU?

Another vote for paying her to elope! Are you really through with the truck? Do you have other OLD vehicles to use or is it your only one? I see newer iron in your picture. Sorry if you have to lose it.

You'll be cutting out part of your soul if you sell this pickup to help finance this wedding. You will regret it. There was a powerful reason you bought the pickup in the first place.

You probably gave your first daughter a big wedding so you are locked in. I would go in hock before I sold my truck. Tough call, you are trading your truck for another son-in-law....

I showed this to my Daughter and she said she would never be able to look at me if I did something like that. The gesture is great, but really a wedding is one day.

My dear Mother(May God rest her soul) and my bride-to-be got together to buy us a new car for our wedding. Mother and Daddy bought all their Fords from the same dealer. I was informed that I needed to take my car down to the dealer and turn it in.

That meant trading in a 1954 Merc convert for a 1961 Comet 2 door station wagon...
I sat right down and cried.

Now the wagon is gone, the first wife is gone and my Merc is a fading dream on my old mind.

It's hard for me to imagine that she wants this hanging over her head, forcing you to sell your pride and joy (of course, I have sons, not daughters). Where is it engraved in stone that the bride's father shoulders the burden of the wedding, anyway? From the looks of that truck, you will really, really regret it.
