Hi everyone, I'm normally on the a board but just bought 3 cars out of a barn yesterday, going today to pick them up. One is a t coupe. It has a cowl vent & fuel tank below cowl. Owner has a title & is supposed to be a 25 model. Question is did 25 have tank under cowl and what else separates 25 from 26-7. Car is complete besides headlights & running boards. Thanks Adrian

More than likely it is an early 26, which beagan production in Aug. or Sept. of 1925. Many states titled cars according to the sale date when bought new from the dealers. That has been my experience anyway. Nebraska was really bad about that in those days. Rod

26 has brackets to the top back of the block. 26 has large drum brakes in back. 26 has detachabel ears in trans with large drum in trans. Serial number will tell you exactly what year it is supposed to be.

This number shows August 1926 but is all 1926! Thats about when they started next years run... ws

Model years didn't change at a specific date as they do now. When they ran out of say '25 fenders for example they started using '26 ones. So if you bought a car in early 1926 it may not have had any modifications that were coming in the "next model" year. People didn't seem to worry about it back then. It was a new car that's all. At least you've got a title. I'd go with it to prevent DMV headaches. The only people that would notice that a T listed as a '25 and had an underdash fuel tank and a hood vent are Concours judges.

Further checking: Apparently to confuse things more some '24/'25 closed cars had cowl vents but that's all they were. Vents. There were also after market vent kits sold.

AND, the 26-7 fordor sedan had a cowl vent with the tank under the seat. I do believe all other model, even the tudor, had a cowl tank in 26. ws

Thanks guys, got it home today. He's owned car for over 20 years and title said 26. He had allways thought it said 25. I'm on my phone but I'll post some pics of it 2moro. Thanks
