....putting the gear ratio stamping on the bottom ridge of the banjo housing? I ask because I have several; 2 '35s, a '37/8, a '46 truck, and a '47 wagon. I can find the stamping on the '46 (e.g. 9 37 for 4.11) but nothing on the three earlier ones. Maybe it's the work of corrosion and haven't tried the old acid wash trick yet, but thought I'd ask you experts first. Oh, and just to make sure to clarify, I've gone to bare metal on each.

I know that all of the rear axels from 1934-1948 that I have seen have the stamp.

Thanks guys. The one difference I spot on these is the ones that are stamped have a flat ground in the rib, the ones that don't look to have the original cast configuration, no flat spot or grinding marks.
