What to pay for a AA??

This is a follow up.
I took a few more pics.
Other than the hood, the sheet metal is good.
Glass is good.
It would appear that it hasn’t run for a while as, at some point, the gas tank was leaking (into the cab and right above that toggle switch!). That old gas on the rubber mat is like cold honey.
Wheel base is 159”.
Idiot me forgot to check the dipstick and radiator fluid.
What do you guys think about a price? Let’s assume that it runs after the gas tank is replaced.
Can you glean anything else from the pics?

Thanks
Leo

Leo,
FYI - it is a 157" wheel base (probably 1931).

From what I can see in the pictures, the platform is not what was sold by Ford. And, the stake racks are not the Ford sold racks. So, it is basically a cab and chassis if you are wanting an original AA.

My suggestion is to watch some of the AA's on Ebay. I would check out the bottom of the doors and the bottom of the cab back. It has been repainted so that hides lots of problems. I would assume that the engine will need to be re-built if I were buying it. It looks like an AA that needs to be restored and the correct Ford sold platform/stake racks found.

That's a pretty decent looking truck, apparently complete which is important. Value I don't know, whatever you and the owner agree on should work. It is a long wheel-base, so takes more room to turn and park. It is cheaper to buy one like that, one that has been restored at one tome, than to buy a rough one and restore it. AA's in general have less value than a passenger car, partly due to demand.

That tank looks like it has a LOT of rust on the outside on the bottom (under the tunnel), You probably would be better off finding a different tank, and go from there. Either way that one I would think is going to have to come out.

Looks like the gas is leaking from the gauge and has lifted the paint allowing the tank to rust. I bet Brent could restore that tank to like new shape in no time.

Leo,

I would check to see what gear ratio the rear end is. Most of the 30's were 6.67 to 1. This is considered undesirable from a driving stand point. You will get about 35mph out of it but that's about it. You really want a 5.14 to 1. This will give you about 45mph with a good engine. With a Mitchell overdrive, you will be able to run 50mph without a problem. There again ... you WILL need a GOOD engine!!!The trucks are fun and definitely different to drive. I have 2 ... a early 30 and a '29.

It looks like the cover plate for the power take off that could be bolted there. I believe the dimensions were made to a standard and there were many aftermarket companies that made take offs to fit there.
