What to do in Reno?

I would highly suggest a ride all around Lake Tahoe.
This is one of our favorite things to do in this area.

Also you can drive through Truckee, then north to Sierra Valley, to the old Hallelujah Junction and back to Reno past the old Stead AFB..several small towns along the way in Sierra Valley....but it's a bit of a drive...

You might consider driving home through Quincy and follow the Feather River and that will take you North of Sacramento..very scenic...

There is a couple more at moundhouse ,i took 60 model a,s from clyde collins yard 1/4 mile away . Lots of buiness men would go past the yard & i would wave to them while dimantling the a,s , bet they where surprised at some one recognising them in a place where they should not be ?? That one mile square block had more old cars than i had ever seen . All gone now, great memories , sheilas were ok too. We will hang by there next week just for old times sake,

Bill W. sounds like you have been there.
YEP, saw a man lose ALL his money in a SLOT MACHINE @ The Waffle House & couldn't pay for his FAMILYS' BREAKFAST:eek: The manager VOIDED the TAB! Heard of one man that HOCKED his spare tire, for GAS money to get HOME!
During WWll, Chief worked @ an ammunition depot in Herlong, Ca, Northwest of Reno, near Susanville, Ca. (BEAUTIFUL AREA!)
Going West, at Truckee, there's a beautiful scenic drive that comes out just North of Nevada City, Ca, on Highway 49, the "GOLDEN CHAIN HIGHWAY"--You can spend WEEKS, just touring the OLD MINING TOWNS! Many of our local car clubs have Annual Tours, in that area:)

A while back (way back, in fact) there was the story of the guy that drove his $25K Caddy to Reno and came back home in a $75K Greyhound Bus.

I live north of Reno. If you take your Model A to Tahoe go up Hiway 50 thru Carson City. Q's has great BBQ in Carson on the way to Tahoe. Jason's in King Beach has great food and lakeside dinning reasonable. The Guiness is cold at Claim Jumper in Reno and they have parking. I'll be in a dark blue 31 coupe with Purple Heart plates

Ride the Virginia & Truckee steam railroad from Carson City to Virginia City.
Visit the Harrah's car museum Downtown Reno.
Kitty's Cat House or Moonlight Ranch in Carson City.

The National Automobile museum has the Jimmy Dean black Merc in it. I had my young boys touch the headlights(not the paint). They weren't impressed. I was!

There's a racetrack "Reno-Fernley". It might do to see what's happening out there. It is about an hour out of town near Sparks (The divorce capitol of the world).
Also, there's a pleasant little river running right through Reno. A good book, a good seat, and a cigar can make you feel like you're in a nice town.

Get out of Reno stay off of I-80 and take the old HWY to Tahoe it is a very nice road with very nice views of the canyon. The old road was built during the Model A days.
