What spark plugs

Hui Guys,
I want to replace the spark plugs in my newly acquired '56 Crown Vic with 312 power.

Been through the workshop manual but all its says is the plugs are 18mm anti-fouling. What plugs are you guys using that I can get at the local autoparts store???

Colin:confused:

I found that with any extra compression, and a cam with a bit more excitement, the NGK is the only one that will perform. I used a Pertonix to fire them.

The correct (old school) spark plug is BF42 Motorcraft -- which is now a
BSF42C (Silicone Resistor = "S" , Copper Core Technology = "C")

whoever has 82s in there -- that is WAY TOO hot -- that is the 6 cylinder
plug.... get them out of there!!!!!

If anyone is interested in a PERFORMANCE plug forthis application -- I have
a couple sets of the old Champion -- AMERICAN made -- F9Y -- which is the equivalent of the BF32 --- which is colder -- hence, performance....

Otherwise, I, of course, have the BSF42C for regular street use....

You are welcome to call me -- Craig -- 516 - 485 - 1935.... New York...:):)

Working at Ford dealers for 40+yrs we put BF82 or BF82c in yblock engines. They were also used in the 6cyl. 144/170 engine and the 223. That's what the parts book called for. BF42 and BF42c were used in FE engines. BF32's were used in high performance engines like 406's and 427's.

The Autolite #46 works just fine for stock compression Y's. If the compression has been bumped up by milling, pistons, or other means and it's still a street driven engine, then the Autolite #45's would be one notch cooler.
