Hi all, I just came from Steve's wonderful website. So much great info on our A's. My Huckster's motor # is in the 465 range, being a may '31 production. Wondering if i might have the factory installed motor, but my A is a '30, and i know they didn't start production until late in the year. Could it be possible? Did they sell '30 models until they ran out, or did they title them as the year they sold? Thanks, Sincerely, Fritz

Your engine could have been changed a dozen times before you got it.Have you been able to find the number on the frame? If you have one it will give you the true date the engine was made. The titles were issued by states, not by Ford.In N.H. titles were not invented until 1964.I believe it is done differently now,but in 1971 my uncle bought a brand new 1969 SC Rambler,it had been on the floor with no buyers for three years.I bought it from him in the late 70's,it was titled as a 1971.Every state is different though.

Is your's an original huckster? 30 had blue oval on rad shell, 31 had black script (FORD).

I have the blue oval. When i seen that the motor # was a high one, wishful thinking set in and i thought i'd research when the new year model's were introduced. I think it was very late in the year, not like today, when 2012's come out this summer/fall.

It is my understanding that as the depression went on Ford pushed the dealers to increase stock, it could be that a dealer would have 30's in 1931. I also understand that some states also registered new cars when they were sold and not made.

Did the new models come out in January of each year ? or could you have a 31 model car made in 1930 ?

The Victoria came out in November 30 with a 31 shroud so there's not really any ryme or reason to new models being released. On a side note, Ford never built a huckster so yours can be any year you want it to be.

Ha, my 2012 Mustang is almost two years old now. The 2014 Mustang's will be at the dealers in April, 2013.:D
