016.jpgReally nice to work on a good body. NO RUST

Found a date stamped on the firewall 2-24-49 under the paint.

It looks like the inside of my 48 F1. No rust. The outside looks the same but I didn't find any date stamp when I sanded mine down.

Nice truck. Keep it.

I have a clean one as well.

Works good
Lasts long time

the date code would not been a normal production line item at least painted like that, i would bet it was pulled from the line as a sample for maybe checking quality or other issue. and then put back on the line when done

If you spray it down with bleach, it will look more like mine after a couple of days. That is, if you want that look.

Otherwise, wow!

That's nice.:) The cab on our '51 F-1 was almost rust free, just a small spot at the bottom of the left rear quarter. The doors were a different story, we had to replace the outer skin (about 6 inches high) at the bottom of each. The firewall had been butchered, when some previous owner installed an after-market Sears hot water heater... We fixed that as well.

I can see how it can't work for you. Just leave it in the garage with the door unlocked, we'll be by to take it off of your hands. No charge.

[That is the most sound floor and cab I've seen. Good luck with the project.]
