What is wing wind vend frame made of?

I have mine taken apart on my 56 Sedan Delivery and do not know what the frames for the side window wing vent are made of. If they are stainless I would just polish them up but if they are chromed steel they will need to be rechromed as they have a bunch of light scratches on them. Thanks

If there are no rust spots they're polished stainless. Unlikely Ford would put chrome ones on a work vehicle.

No rust, just some light scratches. Guess I will buff them and see what happens. Was not sure because they are magnetic.

Mild stainless is somewhat magnetic, depending on the alloy.

They used alloy 440 on the trim parts, it must form nicely. Anything in the 400 stainless series is magnetic.


But get a rat turd on a piece of Ford trim and you'll have lots of sanding and polishing in your future.
