What is this?

This Drake Reproduction was in the box with the radio I am about to install. Anyone know what it is? It’s not in Drake’s listing of parts for a 1940 Ford. It does not fit around the radio, either.

Mike: Does this boot get glued over the speaker portion of the radio? This boot is a little misshapen and it looks like some well placed glue would hold it.

It does get glued. Looking at it more carefully, I have to wonder if it is 1940 or a different year. Or simply it is not a great reproduction.
That lower "flat part" is too lengthy. That part should only be about an inch "deep". Just enough to insulate the radio from the instrument panel.

I am not aware of any reproductions for anything but 1940.
This piece was meant to direct the sound through the grille on your panel.
There exists a service letter that advises the addition of a piece of rubber, about 3/4" x 5" to be placed atop the flat part, providing a bit more clearance between the back of cigar lighter and the radio case.
