One of our members brought this to breakfast. It is about 4 inches in length, 1/2 inch high. It is magnatized. It has the Ford script on the top leg, the letter L on the bottom leg, and several factory indentations as shown. Any ideas?
I saw one at the Mafca meet in KC in 2000. It's a Ford Parts Recovery System. You attach it to your rear bumper a couple of inches off the ground. As you drive the magnet picks up any parts that happen to fall off.....
That's funny Patrick because a couple of years ago I was coming home from ride in my "A" as I was getting out man rode up on a Harley and said " I don't know what this is but it fell off your car". It was a make shift breather. Thank him an told him what nice Harley he had and he told me what a nice Model A I had. He wanted to look at it but he had to catch up with the rest of the riders. Richard, thats funny, a Harley stopping to tell a Ford about a dropped part !! It doesn't get any better than that.. 40+ years ago 4 of us decided to ride our motorbikes x-cty [NY to Ca and back].. It took all 4 of us to get those 2 harleys started every day and the 2 Harleys lead the way so we could follow along for break-downs and also to pick up the dropped parts. There actually ended up being quite a bag of old parts by the end of the trip, but, we all ended up making it back home..Not all in one piece, but we made it back home never the less..
Hey sonny30coupe. No pune intended. Good luck on your trip. I am trying to plan one right now also about 3000 miles. I know my 03 Ultra would make it with no problem but my 68,,,,,well thats where the pickup comes in. Enjoy the ride. Mark.
Mr. Tube, I've used a magnet in my sediment bowl for sometime. I have the glass
bowl with a Napa #3039 filter and the magnet just hangs on the bottom of the filter.
I'm sure with the bulb style you could just drop it in. What my filter doesn't grab, the
magnet does.
This picture bring back memories of a trip many years ago the the MAFCA Convention in San Diego. We had stopped for gas on Hwy 99 somewhere between Fresno and Bakersfield. After filling up I was walking around the Station and embeded in the asphalt driveway in/out of the station was the same magnet. We pondered how it ever got there--was it in the asphalt mix when put down, fall off someones car or what? A mystery for sure, but I always wondered what happened.
