What is this part in my 8BA?

Changing out intake manifold, and found this part, somewhat fitting in the hole in the block. The hole is in the rear driver side, of the block.
Any idea what this is, what it does and where it goes?

OK, it just occurred to me, this is the cup that is attached to the end of the fuel pump
lever, where the fuel pump pushrod fits into. I replaced the fuel pump, about 15K miles ago, and did not notice this part was missing from the non functioning pump. Bouncing around all those springs for all these years on some long road trips.
Now get back to work...
