What you are looking at is a

"BAT" Super-Charger
It is shown on page 80 of Those Wonderful UNATHORIZED ACCESSORIES for Model A Ford. Advertised to provide More Speed, More Power and Economy, Smooth All Around Performance.
Made by REX ACCSSSORIES PAT. Oct. 12, '26 , No. 1602390

The ad has a date on it of September 1930

I suppose it is the same principle as the early 60's Chrysler Cross Ram manifolds. The farther it (the mixture) travels, the more poke it gives...or something like that.

It is a "Bat" Super-Charger (photos)

This is one I saw in Cape Town, South Africa. It came off of an irrigation water pump driven by a Model A engine. The top manifold is a standard right-hand-drive intake manifold for comparison.

Thank you all for the info. on the Bat supercharger boy so many accy's for the model A in the day i had no idea what i had on that engine

Before the BAT Super-Charger ID, I was thinking it was designed for agricultural use, running on kerosene or distillate, and was designed to better heat / vaporize low-grade fuels...

Did anyone see the two extensions on the head just behind the distributor? Anybody know what they were for? Extended head bolt maybe?

They appear to be "sleeve-nuts" or something similar... probably to mount an air-cleaner, fuel tank, or something similar pertaining to its stationary application...
