What is this bracket?

I did not want to hijack dixiedeluxe's thread about a Mercury in a '40, but I do have a question about 19fordy's photo in his reply to dixiedeluxe. I have a 1940 that has had a 8ba installed since I got the car in 1968. I do not have the bracket that is circled in the photo from 19fordy that is shown below. Is that a stock item that should be in a '40 Deluxe? If so, does anyone know if it is reproduced and where I could purchase a pair? And what is it called anyway?

Thanks,

That is a home-made inner fender support brace. When installing an 8BA in a '40 as shown, the original inner fender support strut that traverses the engine bay must be removed or modified to accommodate the pulleys that extend further from the block. If you still have the original strut installed, yours has probably had the crossbar cut out of it.
