What is the fender off off please?

I got this fender with my 38' Conv. Coupe but it sure isn't for that car. I have been told that is might be off of a 37' Sedan does anyone else have any thought on this. When I go to sell it I would like to know what it is! I am pointing out a grove in the fender where it meets the body. I am thankful for any help.
