I've been offerred a couple of Chandler-Grove 91-99 carbies, and was wondering if they are the "best" 94 to use, and also what is the rebuild kit availability like?

Thanks

M-I-A.

Nothing wrong with Chandler-Groves, the company was the first to manufacture the AA1, commonly known as the 94. I don't know them to be better or worse then the later Holleys.

The kits are the same as the Holley kits.

There are some great carb. rebuilders & part suppliers here on the Ford Barn, they will see this post and chime in.

i like the 1948 and down just because they dont have the vacum port in the front for the vacum advance and the have a longer throttle shaft. they are for the most part the same 15/16. its also nice to use all the same model numbers. the ones you are asking about are fine buy them if the price is right

The fact that they are marked Chandler-Groves is a plus in that they are fairly rare. Only correct for late 38 + 39. 40 and later used ford marked carbs. But they are no better or worse than the later ones by ford-holley. Buy um. ken ct, usa.

All of the early Ford vendors have kits, but many contain foreign made parts- i.e. rubber tip idle needles, rubber accelerator pump heads, wrong power valves. Get a kit from the guys that rebuild carbs like Ken-ct and others. Plus you can always call them if you have questions during your rebuild.

I've read that when Holley took over production they made improvements including a better atomizer.

Hi Ken; All things considered it turned out pretty good. Keep in mind, me and some other guys that posted may be able to help. Happy motoring, Craig.

I got help coming in from Danbury-Squantz Pond Sunday but thanks for the offer. Will update then. ken ct.
