I found this item in my grandfathers stuff.

My father still has his 1929 Model A four door sedan and we thought this item might be something related.

It is made out of lead and the part number looks like 4(?)B7351.

The questionalbe second number is a 3, 8, or another B???

Any ideas?

Here are some full size pics:

Thanks!

Found an image online too.

Odd that he would have had a loose an unused battery cell connector, but he did have a lot of stuff!!!

Uh...I hate to break it to you guys but those straps are solid. The one displayed is designed to be bolted down as it has beveled holes. Is it possible that it is a T item?

Yes, the cell connectors are solid, with the exception of the two holes for the cell posts. Once in place over the positve post of one cell and the negative post of the adjoining cell, the cell connector would be "lead-burned" in place to complete the connection. Lead-burning is the process of making a joint by melting together the metal of the two parts to be joined.

I'm thinking the bevel may be designed to contain molten lead which would be used to fuse the straps to the battery cell connectors.

As soon as battery straps was mentioned, I remembered what the old 6 volt batteries looked like.

Still strange that a normal person would have this item unused condition. I would think only a battery manufacturer or rebuilder would have owned this item.
