My 76A basket case had the original wood pieces with it. When I purchased new wood I got these on the right. They don't look anything like the originals. Are these supposed to perform the same function? if so how? Or, did I just get the wrong pieces in my kit. Its an open pickup,'29.

I do not know just who you ordered them rom but call them and and ask them.

Send them back and get the right ones for your OCPU Body.

They look like "Universals" to me. Made to fit more than one model. It's easier for the manufacturer to do this than to make several different models. Model A also fits Model B, C, and D. Just a guess. I'd make sure they don't fit before I started calling the manufacturer.

One can only guess what the wood parts are supposed to fit. They obviously do not duplicate your body blocks as shown on the left. It might be easier to make them yourself rather than return them. Gar Williams

The picture below is the body block kit I got with my 29 CCPU I recently bought. The 2 pieces on the right look like what you have. I don't know if the body blocks are the same for a CCPU and open cab PU. I have not started to restore the CCPU, (I am still working on my 28 special coupe and 29 phaeton) so I don't know if the body block are correct, but I believe they are at least for a CCPU. There are some good drawing in one of the volumes of the sets of model A books for the Restorer or Model A News. I can check to see if I can find them.

If you have a Sacramento Vintage Ford Catalog or if you go on line ( www.vintageford.com) you might find it. In the Catalog on page 202 (also check out pge 200) they show all the mounting wood blocks. The ones you received look to be for '30/'31 Pickup. The '28/'29 look like they take the same as a '28 to '31 Coupe, Roadster, Phaeton, or 2dr. Sedan. Hope this helps?

order a stuf from snyder,s and you wont have this problem 1 888 262 5712 for free catalog you will never order from any one else i have orderd from them foy 40 years just called an order this morning:)

I would use the original blocks, or use them as patterns to cut new ones yourself. It'll probably be cheaper than sending the others back.
