What happened to this accessory?

Since the windshield washer was powered by air from the spare tire, he may have been caught if his dad had had a flat tire and the spare was flat too.
 
My dad use to hang out with boot-legger buddies back in the late 30's.
Their "tanker" was a '37 V-12 Lincoln Zephyer. I think he said the hauling capacity was 25 gallons of grade-A North Carolina white lighting.;)
