What does "AR" actually mean?

"Sorry for the long explanation, but it is the system Ford created. A bit complicated."

What do you mean "long explanation", Jim? For my kind of writing style, yours was a SHORT explanation! Ha, ha, ha!

Marshall, paid by the word

An old guy I used to trade with had a very early 28 chassis he had aquired from the farm near him.A tree had fallen on the car when nearly new, perfectly centered lengthwise. The farmer stripped it and put it in the back of his blacksmith shop for future use.My friend got it 60 years later.I did know of somebody interested in the early parts,so I told him about it.His son had inherited an early A,and was exteremely interested in A's.He soaked up every piece of info he could about them. When I took them over to look at it the young fellow was talking about there was no such thing as an AR.I did warn him not to mention that fact to Charlie,it was an AR to Charlie, and that was that. After Charlie pointed out a bunch of early features the kid pointed out to Charlie that there was really no such thing as an AR.Charlie just said,if your car ain't an AR then you don't need these parts, because this here car is an AR.Turned around and walked into the house. The dad was very supportive of the kids hobby, and felt bad for his kid,but it didn't stop him from telling him he should have just kept his damn mouth shut.

Call it an ar. I'll call the 30-31 a dr. Still ain't no such things.
If i call a tail a leg, how many legs does a dog have?
You can call a tail a leg if you want to, but a dog only has 4 fours.
