Week away

Thanks folks, I enjoy posting my travels and pics
Danny, should be home Tuesday, but off to bundy on Friday for a day or so.

I left the old mining town this morning,it was 2degC overnight, the 33 fired right up with the choke no worries.
But I got delayed leaving with all the grey nomads asking questions on the 33.
My cooling fix with the t/stats works a treat now.
I drove from the old mining town through big cotton farms and irrigated land, the crops are irrigated via siphon pipes from the channel.
The cotton is rolled up in these big bails.
I was back onto a bigger road this morning, and hooked along at 55mph for most of the morning,no worries.
On this road a year ago my 33 conked out and I swapped out the distributor, but left some tools there by mistake, so at the spot I remembered,I stopped and spent 1/2 looking but never found them.
I am now at the 100 yr of Biloela machinery show for the weekend, so will get some pics of the neat stuff here.

Sorry for the delay in the update.
I have been home now for a week or so.
I had a great time ,as this was a bit of a trial to make sure my engine was still good,as I want it to do a heap more miles later in the year.
I met some really entertaining locals at Crocow.
One guy had bought a derelict house and was in the process of rebuilding it,doing a great job
I left Cracow and had a lovely drive to another small rural township( Theodore), this town has the distinction of being the only town in Australia that was completely evacuated by helicopter in the floods in early 2011.
It is a farming area that is irrigated via these siphon pipes and irrigation channels with the funny wheel thing the measures the water quantity,I think they are called a peloton wheel.
From here I was back on not a hiway but a fairly well used secondary road,so had to hook along at 50-55 mpg,the suspension sure got a workout on the undulating road as lots of it is built on black soil country, great for farming but not roads.
I headed to Biloela,a couple hundred or so klms.
There I’m booked in for a few days at the 100 yr anniversary old machinery meet, and to catch up with old friends.
There was so many old tractors and stationary engines plus old water bore drilling rigs and farm stuff from way back.
There was a few nice cars, like my mates 42 mercury, and some others
I spent three days here taking it easy and just kicking back.
I find there are some old friends camped behind me in their caravans who I worked with when we first came to Australia in 81,man we had a ball catching up. I had sore sides from laughing so much.
Late Sunday I head home ,only 130 klms.
I left a bit early as lots of the exhibitors we leaving and I didn’t want to hold any one up on the range,I need not have worried, the 33 burned over the range no drama,45 -50 mph .
It has one strong engine.
At home I fix a few things, minor things ,like a stiff passengers door lock.wash, and that’s about it.
This was only a short trip at 390 miles, but a lot in the hills and dirt roads.
Engine used no oil, cooling well and truely sorted back to normal as it used to be, a few more stone chips but nothing to cry over.

Lawrie, is that first picture an Austin A40 Ute? It looks similar to the one we saw in a small town somewhere around Burra.
By the way, KC is here and says "HI".
Wayno

Wayno, yes an A40.
That would make a unique tow push car, I was going to get a closer look ,but the owner told me there were quite a few snakes around.
KC, good to hear from you, and Wayno.
Corvette 8, my mate told me it was a 42, he is vary familiar with old fords , he told me one of only 50 produced, but it sure is rare here.

Errol's Imported 1941 Mercury Town Sedan. (not 1942)
Unfortunately, coming home from this event, Errol hit a kangaroo and damaged the front of the car including the grille on one side.
Fortunately, we have found him a replacement grille, so that is great news.
